Changelog

v0.1.0-beta.19

Released: January 27, 2025

What's New

Built-in AI Chat

Kunobi now has an integrated AI conversation panel. Ask questions about your clusters and resources, and the AI assistant can use Kunobi's own tools to inspect your data, query stores, fetch pod logs, and describe resources — all without leaving the app.

  • Create and manage multiple conversations
  • AI can execute Kubernetes-aware tools on your behalf
  • Retry failed messages and view full conversation history

MCP Server for External AI Tools

Kunobi now exposes a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, allowing external AI tools like Claude Code and OpenAI Codex to connect to your running Kunobi instance. External tools can query your cluster data, inspect resources, fetch pod logs, and more — bringing Kunobi's Kubernetes awareness into your development workflow.

  • Connect Claude Code or other MCP-compatible clients to Kunobi
  • External tools can list stores, query data, describe resources, and view events
  • Controllable via settings — enable or disable as needed

Embedded Home Page

The home page now shows rich content when you're online, giving you quick access to documentation, changelogs, and announcements. When offline, the original home view is shown as a fallback.

Cluster Side Panel

Cluster details and settings are now accessible through a convenient side panel instead of a separate dialog. View cluster information and configure settings like auto-select behavior and OIDC authentication timeout without losing context.

  • View cluster details at a glance
  • Configure cluster-specific settings inline
  • OIDC authentication timeout is now configurable per cluster

Redesigned Title Bar

The title bar has been refreshed with a cleaner, more professional look. The Kunobi logo and branding are now displayed in the title bar, freeing up sidebar space and reducing visual clutter.

Improvements

Smarter Column Sizing

Tables now use an automatic column sizing system that calculates optimal widths based on content, replacing hardcoded column sizes for a better fit across different screen sizes.

Better Connection Reliability

  • Kubernetes watchers now handle errors and keepalive signals more robustly, reducing unexpected disconnections
  • OIDC cluster connections are serialized when needed, preventing authentication race conditions
  • Upgraded core Kubernetes libraries with support for partial API discovery, improving compatibility with more clusters

UI Polish

  • Improved cluster selector descriptions for better clarity
  • Better alignment and spacing in cluster cards and dependency check views

Performance

  • Fixed a performance bottleneck in the data store that was causing high CPU usage due to inefficient data lookups
  • Resolved race conditions in data subscriptions that could cause errors during rapid navigation

Bug Fixes

macOS Shortcuts No Longer Captured Globally

Cmd+W and Cmd+Q shortcuts now only work when Kunobi is focused. Previously, these were registered as global OS-level shortcuts, which could interfere with other applications.

Installation

Log in to kunobi.ninja to download the latest version, or update directly from within the app.
